The story behind the song: “The Lord healed”

In 2 Chronicles 30:18-20 we find these words: (Amplified Version)

For a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than Moses directed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, May the good Lord pardon everyone.

Who sets his heart to seek and yearn for God-the Lord, the God of his fathers even though not complying with the purification regulations of the sanctuary.

And the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah and healed the people.

It’s great to have Godly leaders willing to pray for you even when you do not follow their directions carefully. Hezekiah is a picture of Jesus who died for our sins and now stands praying for us to the Father in Heaven.

I pretty much saw myself as these poor people making a lot of mistakes in my own life and so grateful God healed me anyway. Being healed, which for me meant being free from the guilt and shame of another person’s sin of rape, was the absolute most freeing experience of my life. I didn’t have to carry the burden anymore. I was not longer beaten down with all the accusations in screaming at me in my mind.

I was free!

I was whole!

I could smile because joy was truly in my heart.

I am healed!
